    I been very fortunate to be teaching at a school that is close to a library.  About a quarter mile away from the school is the Martin Luther King Public  Library in Cleveland, Ohio.  The librarians are always helpful and patient and the selection of books and magazines is great!    The other day, during Arts and Crafts class at Lorain County Community College, I made a clay tiki head while the rest of the students did their clay projects.  A couple of students had made some small, charm like hearts and such, so I thought it would be a good time to demonstrate how to make a plaster mold of a simple object and pour a pewter copy.

   The vocabulary  parade is something started, I believe, by Ms. Hershfeld.  All the teachers and students participate  and everybody tries to dress up and try to portray a word.  Some students have very involved costumes and others need only a hat to illustrate their  chosen word. I did at Lorain Count Community College.  I've done

ring making workshops elsewhere and have enough

tools for about 10 or so participants.  It generally takes 

about 2-3 hours, from start to finish to make a ring. 

The cost depends on a few variables, but is usually 

around $20.00 per participant.

   The following pictures of are some 4th and 5th grade students drilling stones that we tumbled in class.  Running the tumbler in class took approximately two to four weeks.  We ran the tumbler at night because the noise was just a bit too much for the classroom.
